For sale: £2100 plus £100 delivery

Whilst the makers plate to the Myford lathe says this is an ML7-R lathe, it is effectively equivalent to a Super 7 model. The serial number is KR164659T meaning it was made in approximately 1993 and the T suffix indicates it has a factory fitted screw cutting gearbox, serial number QC166552. The former owner then upgraded it with a Super 7 carriage assembly giving it power cross feed capabilities; the top slide is made from a solid block as per late model Super 7’s rather than being cast as per earlier models.
It is powered by a single phase 240V, 550W 1425 RPM Brook Crompton Parkinson motor and there is a Dewhurst switch providing forward and reverse operation of the motor.
There is also a screw cutting dial indicator fitted.
The machine benefits from having had a full strip down service and inspection as part of my standard process of preparing it for sale. It has brand new vee belts on the primary drive motor to countershaft and secondary drive countershaft to headstock, plus a new wiper felt has been fitted. During my inspection the movement of the carriage along the bed felt very consistent, with little tightening when approaching the right hand end which might otherwise indicate some wear to the bed. The condition of the lead screw nuts can be seen in the final photo
The micrometer dials on the cross slide and top slide go from 0 – 90, indicating it is an imperial lathe.
Also included are the following items:
- Pratt Burnerd 4″ 3 jaw self centering chuck with inside and outside jaws and chuck key.
- Myford quick change tool post, plus twelve tool holders
- Myford 7″ & 9″ face plate
- 2MT chuck for mounting in tail stock
- 2MT dead centres & live centre for use in the tailstock
- Myford oiler
Note that as was the case with some batches of machines coming out of the Beeston works, the etch primer applied before painting some of the aluminium castings was a bit defective. As a result there are areas of paint where the paint has separated from the underlying metal and it has already flaked off or will do so with the gentlest of knocks, in particular see the photos of the secondary drive belt cover.
Also note that the gearbox has been drained of oil, ready for shipping. It will need to be refilled as part of commissioning this lathe in your workshop.
My workbench on which the machine has been placed for the purpose of taking photos is not included in the sale. I do have an original Myford lathe cabinet in green that can be shipped with the lathe for an additional £300, please contact me for details.
Collection in person of this lathe is available. Alternatively, shipping to GB non-remote postcodes with Monday to Friday anytime delivery is available for the price given in the listing. If shipping to Highland/Remote/NI postcodes is required or Saturday or AM / PM delivery, please contact me for the additional cost. The item will be bolted onto a pallet for delivery.
