Myford Super 7 lathe SK121459 with gearbox, power cross feed and variable speed control

For Sale: £2545 plus £84 delivery

This is a Myford Super 7 lathe with a screw cutting gearbox and power cross feed. The bed serial number is SK121459 which means it would have been manufactured between 1974 and 1976. The serial number of the quick change gearbox is QC121235.

The micrometer dials to the cross slide and top slide are imperial and the machine also has a screw cutting dial indicator fitted. It comes mounted on an original Myford machine stand with riser blocks and deep tray.

It is powered by a recent three phase 0.75kW motor by Brook Crompton motors with an RS three phase inverter which allows it to be operated from a standard 240V single phase domestic supply, with the added benefit of adjustable spindle speed control to complement the native method of speed control achieved via the lathe’s belt and pulley system.

The machine benefits from having had a full strip down service and inspection as part of the process of preparing it for sale. It has brand new vee belts on the primary drive motor to countershaft and secondary drive countershaft to spindle, plus a new spindle wick and wiper felt. During my inspection the movement of the carriage along the bed felt very consistent, with little tightening when approaching the right hand end which might otherwise indicate some wear to the bed. The condition of the lead screw nuts can be seen in the final photo.

Also included are the following accessories …..

  • 3 jaw Burnerd 1588-10130 chuck
  • quick change tool post and 5 tool holders

  • dead centre , half centre and live centre for use in the tailstock
  • instructions for the 3 phase inverter

Please review the photos and watch the video to assess the condition of this machine.

Collection in person of this lathe is available. Alternatively, shipping to GB non-remote postcodes with Monday to Friday anytime delivery is available for the price given in the listing. If shipping to Highland/Remote/NI postcodes is required or Saturday or AM / PM delivery, please contact me for the additional cost. Due to its high centre of gravity, the lathe will be removed from the stand for shipping and they will both be bolted onto a pallet for delivery, so you will need lifting equipment to carefully remount the lathe back onto the stand when you commission it in your workshop.
