This is a BL-1220 gear head, screw cutting lathe serial number 2020 by Excel Machine Tools. There is a screw cutting indicator mounted on the carriage plus an adjustable stop that can be mounted onto the bed of the lathe.
Distance between centre is approx 600mm, maximum swing is approx 300mm. Spindle has D1-5 camlock mounting for chucks or faceplates, and it accepts MT5 tooling directly in the spindle. The tailstock accepts MT3 tooling.
It is powered by a 1.1kw single phase 240V motor. There is a safety interlock switch to the chuck guard and belt/gear guard – the machine will not run if these are not closed. Judging by the way the spindle stops when the chuck safety guard is lifted, there is an electronic braking system to the spindle, please watch the video to see this. Note that the ‘lamp’ switch and indicator above the headstock are no longer active.
