Myford ML7 lathe with screw cutting gearbox K32196

For sale: £885 plus £100 delivery

This is a Myford ML7 lathe with screw cutting gearbox. The lathe serial number is K32196 which dates its year of manufacture to 1954. It is fitted with gearbox serial number QC1382 which is noteworthy as prior to QC2495 the feed to the leadscrew was taken from the right hand side of the gearbox whereas it subsequently moved to the left hand side.

The micrometer dials to the cross slide and top slide are imperial and it is fitted with a screw cutting dial indicator.

It is fitted with a single phase 240V motor allowing operation from a standard domestic power supply.

The machine benefits from having had a full strip down service and inspection as part of the process of preparing it for sale. It has brand new vee belts on the primary drive motor to countershaft and secondary drive countershaft to headstock, plus a new wiper felt.. During my inspection the movement of the carriage along the bed felt very consistent, with little tightening when approaching the right hand end which might otherwise indicate some wear to the bed. The condition of the lead screw nuts can be seen in the final photo

Also included are the following accessories …

  • Burnerd Model No 30M 3 jaw chuck with matched inside and outside jaws plus key
  • 7″ faceplate
  • 4 1/2″ Myford V1106 catch plate
  • drill chuck with MT2 mount for use in the tailstock
  • MT2 dead centres for use in the tailstock
  • quick change tool post plus tool holders
  • all important modified allen key of the right size for the screw to engage / disengage the spindle backgear key

Please review the photos and watch the video to assess the condition on this lathe. Note that as is the way with some batches of machines coming out of the Beeston works, the enamel top coat to the gearbox and top slide has dried out over time resulting in cracking and flaking of the final layer of grey revealing the cream high build primer underneath.

Note that the gearbox has been drained of oil, ready for shipping. It will need to be refilled as part of commissioning this lathe in your workshop.

Collection in person of this lathe is available. Alternatively, shipping to GB non-remote postcodes with Monday to Friday anytime delivery is available for the price given in the listing. If shipping to Highland/Remote/NI postcodes is required or Saturday or AM / PM delivery, please contact me for the additional cost. The item will be bolted onto a pallet for delivery.

Note that my workbench on which the machine has been placed for the purpose of taking photos is not included in the sale.
