Colchester Bantam Lathe

Sorry, now sold

This is a Colchester Bantam lathe with serial number AA296 which possibly dates it to 1964.

The manual for this machine which gives the full specification can be found online by doing a quick google search for “colchester bantam lathe manual pdf”

It has been fitted with a new 3 phase motor and a frequency inverter drive, enabling variable speed control of the spindle from a standard 240V supply. There is a emergency stop switch wired to the inverter but the switch has not yet been mounted so that you can chose the best location for it when you commission this machine in your workshop.

Also included are the following accessories

  • Burnerd Model B30A-D3 3 jaw camlock mounted self centering chuck
  • Burnerd Model B37-D3 4 jaw camlock mounted independent chuck
  • Faceplace
  • 3MT drill chuck for use in the tailstock
  • Dead centres for use in the tailstock
  • Selection of change gears for thread cutting

Collection in person of this lathe is available. Alternatively, shipping to GB non-remote postcodes with Monday to Friday anytime delivery is available for the price given in the listing. If shipping to Highland/Remote/NI postcodes is required or Saturday or AM / PM delivery, please contact me for the additional cost. The item will be bolted onto an oversize pallet for delivery, it is about 20cm too long for a standard pallet, hence the high delivery cost. Note that I will also remove the inverter drive so that it is possible for machine to be strapped down over the headstock while it is being transported. You will therefore need to remount the drive unit when commissioning the lathe in your workshop.
