Myford ML7 lathe with gearbox, clutch & type A cross slide

Sorry, now sold

This is a Myford ML7 lathe with serial number K7915 which dates the year of manufacture to 1948. Owned from new by the same model engineer, it was factory reconditioned by Myford in 1959 at which point the 1480 quick change gear box was fitted together with the ‘A’ type long cross slide (this is the type fitted to Super 7 lathes). Subsequently a 1466 clutch was also fitted.

There is a thread dial indicator fitted to the carriage. The micrometer dials on the cross slide and top slide go from 0 to 100, indicating these dials can be used for imperial measurements.

Also included is the Myford lathe stand and drip tray as seen in the photos.

The lathe is fitted with a 3 phase motor and there is a 240V inverter unit which allows the lathe to run from a standard 240V single phase socket.

It has brand new vee belts on the primary drive motor to countershaft and secondary drive countershaft to headstock, plus a new wiper felt.

Also included are the following items ….

  • Burnerd 3 jaw self centreing chuck with matched inside and outside jaws, plus chuck key
  • 2MT Jacobs drill chuck for use in the tailstock
  • 2MT live centre
  • two 2MT dead centres
  • catch plate
  • face place
  • manuals and correspondence with Myford in connection to the reconditioning of this lathe in 1959

Note that the gearbox has been drained of oil, ready for shipping. It will need to be refilled as part of commissioning this lathe in your workshop.
